Is there anyway to import an Alternate SKU for inventory items? Is there a field in the import part that I should use. Also, is there a way to import more than 1 Alternate SKU?
ANSWER
Alternate SKUs can be imported. You can import more than one, but not simultaneously.
File Preparation
Prepare an import file with the following fields
1) SKU (the primary barcode)
2) Description
3) Alternate SKU 1
4) Alternate SKU 2
... Etc.
Importer Setup
Go to File: System: Import: Import Inventory
Create an import definition
Link fields
Note: you can only link 1 alternate SKU at a time. Run the import.
Then link the second alternate SKU and run the import again.
The Update Options tab is important.
I recommend choosing "Update Item Only If Descriptions Match; Otherwise Add As New Item"
However, if you know the primary sku will be correct and maybe the description is different, be aware that selecting the second option will change the description to the description being imported.
