POSitive supports the use of Gift Certificates and Gift / Loyalty Cards. Certificates and cards must have an imprinted number (only number and letter combinations are acceptable*) and may have a barcode or magnetic swipe.
Various reports about sales and tendering of Gift Certificates / Cards are available in POSitive.
Gift Certificates and Cards can be "recharged" or "reused." POSitive will first search for an existing Gift Certificate number and report if it has been used or not.
*NOTE: when ordering cards request 6 digit numbers/letters. Specify that symbols such as %!@#&* etc. not be incorporated. Ask for samples so that you can test them first.

FAQ
Q: I have already purchased gift cards and I can sell them, but I cannot use them as payment. POSitive reports that the card does not exist even though I have invoices to prove they were sold. If I look in Gift Card Manager, the card numbers are not there.
A: It sounds like your cards have symbols embedded in the magnetic strip.
You can test this by opening "Notepad" on the computer with the mag stripe reader, swiping a card and then looking closely at the number.
Possible solutions: return the cards to the vendor, print and affix your own numbers to the card and not use the mag stripe, contact your dealer who might be able to reassign numbers of sold cards.
