When you go to print an order or layaway, or an invoice you get a message that pops-up that reads 'Nothing To Print' or 'Nothing To Preview'.
--- STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ---
------------------------------
OPTION 1: Purge contents of the Windows profile 'Temp' folder
------------------------------
Although there may be other causes, the Nothing to Print or Nothing to Preview message is generated not just when printing invoices and orders but for any type of report from the Report Center. When reports are generated, POSitive creates a temporary file in the Windows User's Temp directory. Over time that Temp folder fills up with assorted temporary files and folders from various software applications. We have found on some computers that there is a limit, of just over 65,000 files and folders, that the Temp folder can contain before POSitive starts complaining.
There are a several methods you can use to delete files from your Windows profile 'Temp' folder, I've listed two below:
Option A (Novice--Slower option):
1. Open Windows File Explorer
2. Click into the address bar at the top and type '%temp%' (without quotes) and press Enter
(or manually navigate your way to: C:\Users\<UserProfile>\AppData\Local\Temp)
3. Click on any single file in the Temp folder and press Ctrl+A on your keyboard to select all files and folders
4. Right-click on one of the highlighted files and select the Delete. Files and folders currently in use will not be deleted
(Slow option if you have tens of thousands of files).
Option B (Expert--WARNING: This will permanently delete files, not send them to the Recycle Bin):
1. Click the Windows Start button
2. Type 'cmd' (without quotes)
3. Right-click on 'Command Prompt' from the search results and choose 'Run as administrator'
4. Type 'RD /S /Q %temp%' (without quotes)
5. Press Enter

OPTION 2: Make sure you can print a Windows Test Page
------------------------------
POSitive will not print if your printer cannot print a Windows Test Page outside of POSitive. To print a Windows Test Page:
1. Open Windows Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click on your printer and choose 'Printer's Properties'
2. Click 'Print Test Page' on the General tab
If a Windows Test Page prints, move to the next option

OPTION 3: Make sure you have a printer and form selected in POSitive
------------------------------
POSitive needs to be told which printer to print to and which form to use:
1. In POSitive, go to Maintenance tab > Station Manager > edit the station you're on > Edit > Printer/E-Mail > Invoice, or Orders, etc.
What to select for each field:
- Default Printers: Printer Type: Verify the correct selection
- Windows Printer Driver: Re-select the correct printer
- Windows Form: Re-select 'Standard', or select Standard if you are using another named form
