THIS IS AN INSTORE PROCEDURAL ISSUE so that sales volume will not be adversely affected when accepting customer trade-ins. (Please be aware that there are several ways to handle trade-ins. Some of which are documented in the Help file.)

ADVANCE PREP
1) Create a tender type call TRADE VALUE and assign to Credit Card type
2) Create an inventory item for logging the trade in BUT DO NOT ENTER A PRICE. Instead use notes to document the value of the product being received.
This can be done in one of two ways. I like the first best.

a) create a category named customer trade - non-taxable
-- set selling prompts for this category to ask for the value of the trade, perhaps the customer name, address or anything else you want and set to ask only once
-- assign the current trade in SKU you are currently using (turn off ask for price)

b) edit the current trade in SKU you are currently using (turn off ask for price) and add a transaction note to the effect: \"received product in trade at a value of:
When you add the SKU to the invoice, you can highlight the transaction note and press F10 to enter the true value as documentation.

TRANSACTION
1) create an invoice
2) sell products
3) enter SKU of trade credit and fill in documentation using one of methods above
4) tender invoice
5) fill in the value of the trade in first in the TRADE VALUE credit card type.
6) process the invoice.

REPORTS
You can run a tender report on only that one credit card for any time period.
Your end of day report will break down credit cards for each type, including the trade value
