When I go to the inventory list I can manually find the inventory item if I search by description, but the scanner is unable to find the item by SKU. The SKU numbers look the same.
ANSWER
To resolve this puzzle, go to Windows Start: Accessories: NotePad
Scan the barcode into NotePad and compare the SKU number in PFW with the number scanned into NotePad.
You may discover that the SKU in one will have a leading zero whereas the other does not.
You have two choices depending upon the number of inventory items with the problem.
1) re-program the scanner to ignore the leading zero (see the mfg. manual)
2) edit the inventory item, choose F4 for SKUs and add the correct scan.
Tip: you may want to make the new one the primary sku. You can keep both SKUs or delete one.
