Printing an inventory list allows you to control the sort order
If I were printing an inventory list, this is what I would do.
1) go to Inventory: Inventory Reports
2) choose Inventory Listing (or something else because the principle is the same)
3) on the Sort Items Selection screen the SORT ORDER section controls how the data is sorted.
4) I recommend that you remove all entries from the left side to the right side using the arrow button between the two sections.
--- If you just want to sort everything by SKU, move the SKU option from the right side to the left side. Like this...
SKU
---- If you want the report to group items by category first and then by SKU, move the Category option from the right side to the left side and then position the Category ABOVE the SKU entry using the Up/Down buttons. Like this...
Category
SKU
---- If you want the report to group items by Department and then by Category and then by SKU, move the Category option from the right side to the left side and then position the Category ABOVE the SKU entry and the Department above the Category option using the Up/Down buttons. Like this...
Department
Category
SKU
Now you can print your reports.
NOTE: instead of SKU you could use Description as the basis of sorting. There is no need to have both SKU and Description in the list on the left because the first one will cancel out the second one.
TIP: while viewing the Sort Items Selection screen, press F1 on the keyboard to get specific help.
