OCX or Permissions Error after Upgrading PRM

Occasionally when installing an upgrade on the server, workstations are unable to run PRM. It appears to be a "Permissions Problem" where the workstation doesn't have permission to access the files on the server. It should be noted that an Error 202 is NOT corrected by this procedure and a different solution is called for in that case. An error to the similar to 0000022.OCX is the error (exact error is unknown at the moment) we have seen and corrected with the following procedure. If you don't understand the Short Version instructions, or if the Short Version instructions don't resolve the issue, it is recommended that you follow the Long Version instructions:

SHORT VERSION:

1. On the server zip up the PRM Folder

2. Rename (for safe keeping) the PRM Folder to PRMOLD or name of your choice

3. Unzip the PRM.zip file back to the original location (unzipping the file should create a new PRM folder

LONG VERSION:

1. On the server zip up the PRM Folder

2. Copy the zipped folder to the workstation

3. Unzip it on the workstation

4. Change the workstation’s (Properties) shortcut “TARGET†to C:\PRM\PRM.exe (or appropriate)

5. Leave the “START IN†set to the network folder.

6. Run PRM on the Workstation to confirm the workstation can now access PRM If not, don’t proceed to the next step.

7. On the Server – Rename (for safe keeping) the PRM Folder to PRMOLD or name of your choice

8. Now copy the PRM Folder from the Workstation to the Server to the same location as before i.e the original PRM Location on the server.

9. Change the workstation’s (Properties) shortcut “TARGET†back to [Server Drive]:\PRM\PRM.exe (or appropriate).

Zipping the folders/files strips them of any permissions that was set on them previously. Unzipping the folders/files back to the same location as before inherits the permissions previously set to that location (one level above the PRM folder).

The workstation should now be able to run PRM.
