PFW locking up when tendering an Invoice

1) If this is only happening on one workstation:

---a) If using a cash drawer, try disabling it for the time being and run a transaction to see if PFW still locks up on you. If PFW does not lock up then that indicates there may be a problem with the Cash Drawer setup (Station Settings > Cash Drawer)
---b) Check to be sure the printer is printing correctly

2) The instructions below are specific to the INVOICES.TPS file. After following the instructions below for the INVOICES.TPS file if you continue to experience lockups when tendering an Invoice the use the same instructions below on the following file(s). Be sure to use PFW after fixing each file to see if you've corrected the problem.

APAR.TPS
REPORTS.TPS
INVENTRY.TPS
CUSTOMERS.TPS

To correct this problem, try following steps:

*** Make sure everyone is out of PFW ***
*** Make a full backup of PFW ***

1. From the computer that PFW is installed on, run PFW and stop at the "Choose Company" screen. If you do not see the "Choose Company" screen, exit PFW and follow the instructions at the bottom of this message.

2. Highlight your Company, and then click on the "Utilities" button at the bottom right of your screen.

3. Click on "Verify/Maintain Data".

4. Choose "Yes" when the message asks if you are ready to run TPSFIX.

5. You are prompted to run TPSFIX on all files or just one. Choose One File.

6. From your company's DATA folder (typically this is DATA2 or C:\PFW\DATA2) select the INVOICES.TPS file and click OK. This may take some time to run.

7. When this is done running you should be back at the POSitive Utilities Screen.

8. Click on "Check File Formats" button on the POSitive Utilities Screen.

9. When this is done running, press F10 (Close).

You data files should now be ready to run. If you are still having an error, you will need to call us for further help.


* No Choose Company Screen Instructions:

1) If you are running version 2004 and above exit completely out of PFW, hold the SHIFT key while double-clicking the PFW shortcut on the desktop - hold SHIFT until you see the "Choose Company" screen.

2) a) Start PFW as you normally do.
--- b) Go to File: System: Company
--- c) Turn on "Select A Company At Startup."
--- d) Exit PFW. You will be immediately taken to the Choose Company window.

3) On the computer where PFW is installed click on the My Computer icon on your windows desktop. Click on the WINDOWS folder. Locate the RETAILER.INI file, and rename it to RETAILER.OLD. When you next run PFW, the Choose Company screen will appear.
