The menu ribbon is typically "installed" by running POSitive as a Windows Administrator at least once to allow 'POSRegx.exe' to run, which will get some DLL files registered into the computer.

--- PROJECT SUMMARY---
There are several troubleshooting solutions listed below which may resolve the issue with the Ribbon Menu Bar not loading.
------------------------------
Is POSitive locked up or still loading?
------------------------------
You need to determine whether or not POSitive is actually locked up, as opposed to just "waiting" for the ribbon menu bar to load.
- After you login to POSitive, are the File, Edit, Window, Help menu options at the top left of the screen functional?
- No
- That indicates that POSitive has locked up. With almost all cases POSitive lockups are hardware related. It's most likely a situation where the Station Settings are set to use a cash drawer or pole display, or something related to the receipt printer. File and user permissions can also play a role.
- Completely exit POSitive on the affected computer
- If you have a USB-to-Serial Pole Display...
- Step 1: Login to POSitive using a different computer and edit the affected Station by going to the Maintenance tab > Station Manager > Devices...
- Step 2: Deselect the 'Pole Display' option then completely exit POSitive again
- Step 3: Log back into POSitive. If the Ribbon Menu Bar works then you most likely have an incompatible USB-to-Serial adapter driver for the pole display. It may be time to upgrade your USB-to-Serial Pole Display adapter and/or USB-to-Serial driver. Contact your hardware vendor for further assistance.
- Yes
- Option 1: Right-click on the shortcut to open POSitive and choose 'Run as administrator' and login (Choose 'Yes' if you see the Windows 'User Account Control' prompt).
- Option 2: Login to Windows with administrator credentials, then login to POSitive. Once the Ribbon Menu Bar loads you no longer need to use the Windows administrator account to login on that workstation. Logout of Windows and log back in as a standard user.
- Option 3:
- Step 1: Check to see that Windows User Account Control (UAC) is set to the Default level. If it's not, set it to Default and then reboot the computer
- Step 2: After the computer reboots, right-click the shortcut to open POSitive and choose 'Run as administrator'. Once POSitive is logged into at least once with administrative permissions then you won't need to again in the future. The increased permissions allow the Ribbon Menu Bar controls to be loaded in Windows.
- Option 4: Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the P:\PRM\Utility folder. Right-click on 'POSRegx.exe' and choose 'Run as administrator'. You won't see any indication that anything ran or is running. Now login to POSitive and see if the Ribbon Menu Bar is displayed.
- Option 5:
- Step 1: Right-click on the link below and choose Save File As... to download the file 'xpack.zip'
- Step 2: Press Ctrl + J in your web browser to find the file you just downloaded
- Step 3: Right-mouse-click on the downloaded file 'xpack.zip' and select 'Open containing folder'
- Step 4: Find and double-click the xpack.zip file to open it
- Step 5: Drag or copy 'xpack.bat' from the zipped folder to your POSitive installation folder P:\PRM folder
- Step 6: Open a Windows Command Prompt as an administrator and execute 'xpack.bat'
- Windows 10
- Open your POSitive installation directory using Windows File Explorer and click on the 'File' tab on the Ribbon menu
- Hover over 'Open Command Prompt' and choose 'Open command prompt as administrator'
- Alternatively, click the Windows Start button and type "cmd" in the Windows Search box, right-click on Command Prompt and choose 'Run as administrator'
- Type "pushd \\[YourServerName-without-brackets]\POSitive\[PRM-POSitive-installation-directory-without-brackets]" (e.g. "pushd \\Server\POSitive\PRM" without quotes) and press Enter.
- Type "xpack.bat" and press Enter
- Wait for the command to process... A Series of messages will specify whether or not which or each of the OCX files were successfully registered into Windows. If any file was unable to be successfully registered then it is likely due to a Windows user account permissions issue. You may need to contact your IT professional to take further action with your Windows user account.
OCX File Registration Succeeded

OCX File Registration Failed

- Option 6: If the user logged into Windows does not have administrator privileges and your mapped drive was not created using the server's Windows administrator credentials then...
- Disconnect the mapped drive
- Re-map the drive using Windows administrator credentials
- Login to Windows with administrator credentials
- Right-click on the shortcut to open POSitive and choose 'Run as administrator' and login (Choose 'Yes' if you see the Windows 'User Account Control' prompt).
- Once you've verified the Ribbon Menu Bar displays properly you can exit POSitive, disconnect the mapped drive, and then login and re-map the drive again using your non-administrator user's credentials.
