Signature Capture, EMV and Verifone Vx805

There are currently two ways to collect signatures with our software. The first is to use a signature capture only device, such as the Topaz SignatureGEM series, which works when invoicing and placing customer orders. The other method is to use a credit card device with signature capture, such as the Verifone MX860 series. This will allow customers to electronically sign credit card receipts and you can also use the signature capture function with invoices and customer orders.

The move to EMV payment processing brings changes to signature capture. The Verifone MX860 series is not EMV certified, so a different device will have to be used. Unfortunately, none of our processing partners has a EMV certified credit card device with signature capture available right now. That should change sometime in November. But, until a device is approved we have no way to integrate it with our software (We don't want to integrate with a device only to find out that it had to be replaced with something else).

The Verifone Vx805 devices we are currently providing do not have signature capture capability. They support mag-stripe, chip card and contactless (like Apple Pay) only. You could use them in conjunction with a Topaz SignatureGEM device, but if you want to combine all the features into a single device, we recommend waiting if possible.
