SEND & RECEIVE MULTISTORE DATA

Multi-stores share information by sending and receiving specialized e-mail packets. This information can be sent and received on demand from
-- the Multi-Store ToolBar (Help: Show Multi-Store ToolBar) or
-- the pulldown menu File: Multistore: Send Data Now and/or Receive Data Now.

However, this send and receive process can be automated with the use of a schedule and pfwmserv.exe.

SET THE SCHEDULE
Go to File: Multi-Store: Multi-Store Setup
Select the Schedule tab

You have a choice of sending and receiving

--- Throughout The Day - Specify how often the PFWMSERV program will check for outgoing and incoming e-mails.

--- Once Per Day - Set the Sending Time and the Receiving Time. It is best if you allow at least 30 minutes between the procedures. However, if you are finding a high volume of e-mails are being transmitted, then lengthen the time between operations to an hour or more (expressed in minutes). Consider also how much time will be needed to coordinate sending and receiving from the other stores.

Disconnect When Done Sending/Receiving
If your store has one phone line or does not have a dedicated connection which is always connected to the internet, then check this option.

PFWMSERV.EXE
The pfwmserv.exe program in the c:\pfw directory will automate e-mail transfers for multi-store users.

Pfwmserv.exe uses the same internet connection settings as Microsoft Internet Explorer (5.0 or above) For help with Internet Explorer, please contact Microsoft.

Shortcut or Scheduler
If you are running PFWMSERV from a shortcut or scheduler, you need to run with a parameter to the database.

For example, if your data is in the DATA2 directory then the entry

PFWMSERV 2

directs PFWMSERV to use the DATA2 directory.

OPERATIONAL TIPS:
Pfwmserv.exe does not need to be running on all workstations. One computer with e-mail connectivity will suffice.

Pfwmserv.exe does need to be running in the background at all times.

Pfwmserv.exe will need to be closed if you are attempting to upgrade PFW. Be sure to run the program again after the installation is complete.
